Accounts Payable Manager

This role will be responsible for developing a target driven, efficient and responsive accounts payable team on behalf of the Karro group reporting manager. Providing a high quality and accurate accounts payable function within a strong financial control environment. This role will also require strong relationships to be developed across the Karro and Young's senior operational teams as well as well as the wider finance team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the UK group finance accounts payable function on a day to day basis, creating a vision and direction for the team to provide first class customer service and drive continuous improvement
  • Plan workloads for team and ensure that efficient processes are embedded to enable correct payment processing
  • Ensure robust controls and processes are embedded in the team to accurately report liabilities and protect against fraud through the accounts payable ledger
  • Ensure payment proposals are reviewed and that suppliers are paid in accordance with agreed terms
  • Full management of the accounts payable team members including target setting, development and coaching
  • Management of parked invoices and open invoices, taking a lead in calls with sites to resolve root cause problems
  • Implement a statement reconciliations process within the team and ensure process are reviewed and adopted to make sure that open liabilities are captured
  • Ensure the accurate reporting of purchase ledger KPI's are developed, produced and shared with wider finance management
  • Support the implementation of acquired business accounts payable functions into the team, ensuring smooth transition and minimum disruption to suppliers
  • Manage the accurate and timely processing of employee expenses, ensuring adherence to policy
  • Provide payment forecasting to the treasury team and implement payables working capital initiatives for the group
  • Ad hoc projects as required

Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in the management of a sizeable accounts payable function
  • Experience of being able to manage and develop a team, ensuring realistic targets are set
  • Focused on employee development and enabling others to reach their full potential, motivates and inspires others to achieve
  • Implementation of accounts payable ledgers ideally through SAP
  • Planning and prioritising workloads in a team environment and able to delegate effectively
  • Provides appropriate solutions to problems with proven experience of decision making
  • Experience of working under a robust financial control environment
  • Proactive and demonstrates initiative, maximising opportunities for improvement
  • Able to build and maintain effective working relationships, quickly and effectively with colleagues, whilst seeking and developing new relationships that will support the team
  • Excellent communicator able to adapt style to suit a variety of situations and audiences including those at the highest level
  • Management of suppliers and able to act as an escalation point
  • The role will require adhoc travel to Grimsby and potentially other locations
