Engineering Technician Haverhill (Nights)

Nights (5.30pm - 05.30am) 4 on/ 4 off, shift pattern - £19.55 per hour

As part of the engineering team you will provide a safe, frontline reactive maintenance service to the site. Actively identifying root cause and bringing the equipment back in to service as quickly as possible as well as actively seeking and identifying cost effective improvements to site assets and equipment, improving efficiency and reliability.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring effective handover of information across shift.
  • Using PMS to support prioritisation and problem solving to diagnose faults and to test, repair and maintain Mechanical/Electrical equipment.
  • Observing, recognising and reporting on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure and providing CMMS data.
  • Contacting OEM's and other suppliers for technical support as and when required and expediting parts when not available on site.
  • Leading shift-based problem solving where corrective actions are not clear.
  • Working as one team with other site functions to deliver the service, RFT agenda on a day to day basis.
  • Coaching of operators with asset care tasks.
  • Identifying improvements and implementing with support of line manager.
  • Identifying life cycle issues and raising these with possible recommendations.
  • Use and support departmental programmes for workshops and stores workplace management.
  • Continuous transfer of knowledge and best practice.
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance to agreed schedules.

Skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Exposure to engineering based operational efficiency programmes
  • Experience in a similar role of supporting site strategy for Quality, HS, EMS and engineering
  • Supporting improvement activities and events within facilities and engineering owned areas
  • Delivering on the job training (show and tell) to new colleagues
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification - mechanical and/or electrical bias
