Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

The financial planning and analysis manager reports to the group financial controller and has one report. The post-holder will lead on the delivery of first class financial and management information to support the growth and development of the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Owns the group level forecast for all sites, understands and provides clear and insightful group performance commentary including on week on week, month on month and year on year variances and opportunities
  • Responsible for the design, development, deployment, successful roll out and maintenance of all internal financial, planning and analysis (FP&A) reports, engaging key stakeholders as appropriate and ensuring reporting remains relevant to the business
  • Support the senior commercial finance team where required by providing relevant, accurate and timely information
  • Proactively identifies possible scenarios, risks and opportunities around business performance
  • Owns the preparation of the monthly financial board pack and the monthly bank and other external stakeholder reporting
  • Leads on the annual budget and strategic reporting processes including establishing assumptions, modelling, consolidation, understanding, analysis and presentation
  • Owns the group review of working capital
  • Challenges and understands the forecasting and budgeting assumptions of the sites
  • Supports the group review and challenge of capex proposals and timely post investment reviews
  • Owns the capex appraisal policy, ensuring it is fit for purpose for the business
  • Defines the need for and source of data requirements for financial planning and reporting purposes and translates requirements into stakeholder engaged delivery plans
  • Leads the system and reporting accountant, sets clear direction, priorities and goals
  • Take the lead in supporting finance system upgrades and implementations
  • Ensures financial and reporting systems remain fit for purpose
  • Training new starters across group and all the sites in financial reporting requirements
  • Drives process improvements
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and projects as when required

Essential experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA + post qualification experience of working in an FP&A role
  • Excellent working knowledge of excel and power-point
  • Prior experience of working with reporting technology
  • Process orientated
  • Provides appropriate solutions to problems
  • Proven experience of decision making
  • Able to liaise with the senior management team on behalf of the group financial controller
  • Flexible, able to consistently meet deadlines / consistently motivated and focused on delivery
  • Excellent communicator (both written and in verbal form) with an ability to tailor and adapt style to a wide variety of audiences including those at the highest level
  • Objective, maintains unbiased approach and displays integrity at all times
  • Proactive and able to demonstrate initiative and able to maximise opportunities for improvement

Preferred experience:

  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Financial systems experience
