Group Accountant

A new growth role forming part of the group finance team at our head office in Malton. The group accountant will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate production of the Karro financial results and forecasts.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with the finance manager to produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts, statutory reports and financial statements, with supporting information as required
  • Assist in the production of board packs and external stakeholder reporting as necessary
  • Own the accounting for key areas of the balance sheet, including reconciliations
  • Play a key role in supporting the group quarterly review of the balance sheet and audit committee feedback
  • Liaise with external auditors on behalf of the finance manager
  • Take responsibility for the operation of group reporting internal controls
  • Take the lead on integration of acquisitions on behalf of the finance manager
  • Drive process improvements
  • Ad hoc compliance projects as necessary

Skills and experience:

  • Audit and/or experience of working in practice as an ideal, industry experience also considered
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Appreciates the concept of materiality together with the benefit of detail
  • Proactive and demonstrates initiative, whilst also maximising opportunities for improvement
  • Able to build and maintain effective working relationships quickly and effectively with colleagues and seeks and develops new relationships to support the wider finance team
  • Objective, maintains unbiased approach and displays integrity at all times
  • Excellent communicator (both written and in verbal form to a wide variety of audiences including those at the highest level), able to adapt style to suit situations
  • Flexible, able to consistently meet deadlines and remain consistently motivated and focused on delivery
  • Can work proactively either independently or as part of a team
  • Provides appropriate solutions to problems
  • Proven experience of decision making
