Head of Financial Accounting

An exciting new growth role working overseeing our group finance function at Karro head office. Responsible for developing a highly efficient, flexible and responsive finance team on behalf of the group financial controller, to support Karro business growth and development.

To provide high quality technical expertise and play a key role in delivering accurate, relevant and timely financial reporting and a strong financial control environment for Karro. The role will require strong relationships to be developed across the Karro senior operational teams as well as across the wider finance team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the UK group finance function (reporting and management accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable and master data) on a day to day basis on behalf of the group financial controller
  • Create a vision and direction for the team to provide first class customer service, challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement
  • Lead in the analytical review of results
  • Take responsibility for first round production of all board and bank reporting including commentary
  • Manage the production of all group internal and statutory financial reporting ensuring accuracy, adherence to deadlines, technical and business relevance
  • Lead the day to day management of the group year end and audit process to ensure smooth delivery and statutory sign off in line with bank reporting requirements
  • Work with internal audit on accounting policy changes and roll out to sites
  • Focus on controls, in particular act as custodian for the group balance sheet ensuring integrity and assist in ensuring risks and opportunities are managed
  • Proactively maintain an awareness of the needs of the operation and liaise with IT to ensure financial systems and processes provide first class service to the business
  • Manage the group's finance strategy with the sites, assisting in development of accounting and financial policy and undertaking centralisation where appropriate to allow sites to focus on commercial value add
  • Work with the tax accountant to ensure statutory responsibilities are met to a high standard and compliance risk to the group is minimised
  • Be involved in the production of accurate and timely acquisition accounting (including any UK GAAP/IFRS conversion)
  • Lead and manage the smooth integration and centralisation of acquisitions into the group finance function
  • Manage the relationship with professional services providers as required
  • Ad hoc projects as necessary
  • Deputise for the group financial controller where business needs require

Skills and experience:

  • ACA (+ post qualification experience either within practice or industry)
  • Some audit experience preferable
  • Proven experience of being able to manage and develop a large team, focused on employee development and enabling others to reach their full potential, motivating and inspiring others to achieve
  • Able to delegate effectively

  • Excellent technical accounting skills
