Quality Assurance Manager

6-month fixed term contract

Shift: Mon - Fri 32 hours, allowing handover time either side of 6pm - 12am

To manage and control the day-to-day activities of product quality assurance and the team working in our newly introduced twilight shift, which has been increased due to increased volume demand.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage with and through the quality assurance department all activities in accordance with agreed timescales
  • Ensure compliance with quality management system procedures and company policies and procedures
  • Manage performance of quality assurance operatives, monitoring attendance, identifying training and development needs and carrying out annual appraisals
  • Assist in the supervision of the quality co-ordinator in respect of workload to ensure efficient communication of issues and accuracy of documentation
  • Ensure that 'respect at work principles' are adhered to throughout the department
  • Liaise with raw material suppliers where necessary and customers as required on issues impacting or affecting quality control
  • Develop the quality management system in conjunction with the quality manager
  • Liaise with relevant department managers concerning quality issues and work towards a successful conclusion
  • Continuously review and assess personnel and working practices
  • Respond to the needs of the business to ensure procedures and specifications meet customer and company expectations and satisfaction

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience of managing a quality assurance team
  • Understanding of retailer products and quality standards
  • Food safety level 3
  • HACCP level 2
  • Understanding of FMCG specifically chilled food manufacturing
  • Experience of successfully managing tasks/projects to completion
  • Computer literate understanding of word and excel packages

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Internal auditor qualification
  • Food safety level 4
  • HACCP level 3
  • Experience of meat and meat products
  • Knowledge of MRP systems i.e. SAP and Hellenic
