Quality Assurance Team Leader

Due to internal promotion we are currently seeking a new team leader within our quality assurance team. The post-holder will report to the site quality manager and lead a small team of quality assurance auditors. Through leading by example and using positive behaviours the post-holder will build trust and motivate their team, taking accountability for business performance across safety, people, delivery, cost and environment, whilst also championing improvements.

Shift pattern: Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6am-6pm and alternate Sundays

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading a team through being approachable, providing feedback and positive role-modelling, also providing support and clear communication not limited to: return to work interviews, disciplinary meetings and maintaining training matrices
  • Taking responsibility for key personnel duties and workforce planning
  • Ensure the team is fully trained in safe systems of work, (ensuring the implementation HACCP controls) and maintaining accurate training records
  • Observing and managing team activity, encouraging and recognising safe practise and behaviours, challenging where appropriate
  • Focusing on safe start-up and shut down procedures ensuring compliance with risk assessment requirements
  • Investigating near misses and accidents, maintaining accurate accident reports
  • Ensuring job rotation, induction checks for new starters
  • Ensuring adherence to food safety and food hygiene standards
  • Ensuring that product follows traceability and segregation process
  • Maintaining a safe and hazard free work environment
  • Proactively encourage improvement ideas in the team and drive continuous improvement initiatives to deliver more efficient ways of working within the team through a PMO approach
  • Hourly review boards completed and challenged appropriately
  • Daily review meetings of line performance, proactively managing line performance and ensuring that operational targets are met
  • Managing cost in line production, through stock rotation, correct line setup and correct checks are in place for product quality, waste tracking and control, yield, output and downtime
  • Ensure you and your team how our actions impact the environment
  • Continually Communicate opportunities to reduce waste with improvements to minimise energy usage, water usage, packaging waste, and product waste

Essential experience:

  • Food safety qualifications (min Level 3)
  • HACCP
  • Experience within food manufacturing quality and compliance (Meat ideally but not essential)
  • Food safety management experience
  • Experience of working to BRC standards and dealing with retail multiple customers
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • Internal auditing experience and root cause analysis
  • A naturally supportive, intuitive and ambitious leader that will focus on developing and growing their team as well as their own career
  • Strong influencing skills
