Site Management Accountant

This is a really broad and varied commercial accounting role within a rapidly growing and well invested business. As site management accountant for Karro's largest and most high profile site you will provide comprehensive support to the site finance director and senior management team in assisting them to further grow and develop the Malton site, making Karro the supplier of choice in the British pork industry.

Key to the success of this role will be the provision of accurate and timely management information upon which both the role holder and management team can act in order to maximise the growth opportunities that exist within the business. Involvement in the development and implementation of a strong and robust reporting system will be a key priority in order to deliver key objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Daily and weekly reporting of maintenance, utility and other site overhead costs
  • Monthly profit and loss reporting to include overhead costs, engineering costs and consumable costs
  • Management of the site balance sheet, including all monthly reconciliations and reporting requirements for group finance
  • Report on capital expenditure spend to ensure that all projects are operating within budget
  • To provide management information as requested and to develop the management reporting process in regard to overhead costs
  • Creation of budgets and forecasts as required on overhead and capital spend
  • Provide daily operational support on the management of purchase orders and invoices, including managing the goods received not invoiced (GRNI)
  • Production of the audit file at year end, to include all reconciliations and any supplementary information required
  • Take an active part in the management and reporting of utility costs and environmental information
  • Support the department in holiday cover in regard to weekly and monthly reporting

Skills and experience:

  • Appropriate level of experience and knowledge from working in a manufacturing environment with evidence of variance reporting
  • Ideally part-qualified accountant
  • Strong excel analysis skills and the ability to demonstrate the application of logical analysis to manufacturing transactions
  • The desire to be hands on, and to be seen on the production floor
  • Understanding of the FMCG industry, ideally food manufacturing
  • Experience of successfully managing tasks and projects through to completion
  • Computer literate, highly numerate and analytical
  • Ideally experience of working with SAP
  • Confident, competent, determined and resilient, with the drive to complete tasks
  • Reliable, conscientious, self-motivated and professional
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Effective planning, organisation and communication skills
  • Effective problem solving skills and ability to influence solutions
  • Promotes a continuous improvement approach by continually challenging the status quo and driving standards forward
