Site Maintenance Operative

This role will form part of our engineering asset care team. The post-holder will provide basic site maintenance and fabrication repairs for the whole production and slaughtering site facility, including being responsible for the completion of the fabrication log and keeping records up date.

Shift pattern: Rotating weekly from 2pm-10pm / 10pm-6am Mon-Fri

Key responsibilities:

  • To diagnose and rectify minor faults on the equipment that you have been trained to carry out fault finding on
  • Be able to prioritise and maintain high standards whilst working to tight deadlines
  • Ensure all near misses are reported and investigated in a full and timely manner
  • Ensure all chemicals are managed and controlled in line with all current COSHH requirements and relevant safety data
  • Responsibility for control of contractors working on or around the site
  • Responsibility for the up keep of workshop and yard areas
  • Strictly adhering to all relevant legislative standards for health, safety and environmental standards including our waste water service provider and Food Safety standards
  • Accurate recording all breakdown information for plant and equipment in your areas of responsibility, ensuring continuation of specific information per machine and by line
  • Ensure specific and timely planned maintenance of equipment, aligned to business requirements and the requirements of the Engineering Manager
  • Ensure the stores has the correct information on critical parts and change part maintenance
  • Ensure stock items are booked with stores, following the correct procedure and ensuring urgent items are ordered on the same day

Preferred experience:

  • Previous production or manufacturing exposure would be advantageous especially if in the food industry
  • Previous maintenance experience
  • Practical, hands on mindset
  • Good communication skills, with a good level of English
  • Computer literate
