Shift Technical Manager

Shift pattern: Monday - Wednesday 12-hour day shifts (6am-6pm) OR Thursday - Saturday 12-hour day shifts (6am-6pm)

PLUS 8 additional hours every other week with flexibility required on day

An opportunity has arisen for two shift managers to work at our Scunthorpe site managing the technical aspect of the operation from the factory floor through to the services provided by the quality assurance operatives on shift, facilitation of the site quality management system to ensure due regard is given to food safety, quality, integrity and legal compliance. The incumbent will also contribute to the relationship with customers, auditors and external agencies to ensure that high standards are maintained or exceeded.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the site and your shift with a technical service ensuring all customer, business and legislative requirements are maintained
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships across the site and Karro food group
  • Build and maintain relationships with both customer and supplier technical teams
  • Develop site technical KPI's, understanding and managing the key areas that influence the measures
  • Develop the quality assurance team to support production and improve site standards
  • Ensure all processes are completed in-line with the quality management system, facilitating a review to root cause when system failure occurs
  • Drive and deliver audit performance and reduce customer complaints

Essential Skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Formal food technology or food science qualification OND or equivalent supporting courses and experience
  • Experience and understanding of technical management within FMCG specifically chilled food manufacturing or ambient
  • Experience of managing and leading a quality assurance team
  • Understanding of retailer products and quality standards
  • Confidence to lead a BRC audit or equivalent

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Internal auditor qualification
  • Food safety level 4
  • HACCP level 3
  • Experience of meat and meat products
  • Knowledge of MRP systems i.e. SAP and Hellenic
