Technical Services Manager

This is a critical role ensuring that the site is audit-ready and the correct governance is in place from a technical perspective. Reporting to the Technical manager with 1-2 direct reports this role will manage the administration of all technical systems and ensure internal compliance with all requirements of such systems. Ensuring adherence to the internal audit and the self-audit program driving the business. Making sure that supplier specifications comply with all company requirements and that customer documents, including product specifications and artwork, are produced to the highest standard and in an appropriate format. The Technical Services Manager must also ensure compliance with all (existing and emerging) relevant legislation as well as managing the audit close out procedure, and dealing with customer queries. We require someone who has strong leadership qualities, who is calm and able to challenge appropriately and effectively.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the completion of product specifications to best practice guidelines and be compliant with requirements of customer systems within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure supplier specifications are completed in an acceptable format and provide all of the information needed to successfully complete internal documents and customer specifications
  • Ensure adherence to the internal audit program and ensure the self-audit program drives the business forward
  • Ensure artwork briefs and their sign off are carried out with the highest attention to detail. Product claims, nutritional information, adherence to brand standards and legal compliance are of paramount importance. Artwork must also be completed to critical path deadlines
  • Oversee HACCP, TACCP, allergen validation, species control, any deviations to specification and micro trending
  • Provide the administration service for customer complaints, completing and publishing trends
  • Ensure tracking of internal and external non-conformances to completion
  • Maintenance of the technical KPI dashboard
  • Ensure compliance with the customer, authority and group codes of practice
  • Ensure document control and QMS systems are up to date and fit for purpose
  • Ensure all systems and paperwork are updated for product launches
  • Analyse and draw logical conclusions from various sources of information

Essential experience:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role within technical support in the Food industry
  • Customer and client engagement experience
  • Up to date food labelling legislation knowledge
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to influence and challenge appropriately
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Level 3 Food safety
  • Internal auditing experience

Preferred experience:

  • Experience of developing a team
  • Knowledge of food safety standards
  • Level 3 HACCP
