Weekend Factory Manager

The Weekend Factory Manager role takes responsibility for production, safety, delivery and leading all the teams across production and despatch teams to achieve the site's goals and objectives. Ensuring a safe and supportive working environment and being the point of escalation for any issues that might arise across the weekend. The Factory Manager facilitates production of the highest quality product, maximises efficiency and exceeds the set profitability targets whilst maintaining a continual improvement ethos.

Shift Pattern: Friday - Monday 46 hours

Key responsibilities:

  • Continually assess areas for improvement with your team, aggressively seek out biggest win opportunities and deliver the improvements in line with agreed targets
  • Build positive relationships with other managers, utilising these positive relationships to assist delivery of results through your team, and provide support towards the success of other teams
  • Manage your Team Leaders to understand their role and coach them in how to be an effective Team Leader through team management, communication, setting and managing by standards, organising their team, high quality documentation demonstrating keen attention to detail and full understanding
  • Clearly communicate the targets your department needs to be achieving and the processes to be carried out to ensure these targets remain in line with company policies and procedures
  • Ensuring the Health & Safety of all staff in your department at all times through strict compliance to the Company Standards and Procedures. Provide support and assistance to management and staff in fulfilling their Health & Safety responsibilities
  • Manage the departmental audit preparedness through monitoring and auditing departmental GMP - providing clear feedback for improvement and taking on board suggestions from your team to achieve improved GMP standards
  • Be the point of escalation for all site issues across production, security and despatch ensuring timely and effective resolution

Skills & experience:

  • Standards and systems: Demonstrates an understanding of operating integrity and standards for compliance and quality
  • Manufacturing: Strong food manufacturing knowledge, preferably in relation to meat, with a demonstrable understanding of FMCG production & LEAN Manufacturing requirements
  • Finance: Demonstrates financial understanding and business acumen
  • Customer focus: Has clear focus on the needs of different customers
  • Leadership and communication: Provides clear direction, encouragement, goals and expectations. Enables employee empowerment whilst remaining close to the business. Has the ability to independently manage projects from start to finish
  • Commitment to process and results: Demonstrates a desire to question processes and efficiency and to seek change
  • HSE: Demonstrates understanding and awareness of HSE
  • Computer systems: Demonstrates relevant IT literacy
  • Experience of product launches, promotional and standard volume peaks
  • Understanding of retailer products and quality standards preferable
  • Line management experience
  • Demonstrable problem solving ability
  • Ability to give clear instruction and delegate as required
